A transport-based recurrence CFD model for fast fluidized bed simulations

Abstract

The main goal of this work is applying the transport-based recurrence CFD method [Pirker & Lichtenegger, CES, 188, 65-83 (2018)] to the simulation of the transport of a passive scalar, which can be considered as chemical species in fluidized beds, in a fast and low-cost online predictive scenario. The recurrence CFD procedure converts the short-term full CFD simulations into advancing-time shift operations, stored in memory, that convect the passive scalar by a temporal jump following the control of recurrence patterns. The introductory obtained results have revealed an acceptable prediction to the species transport within a very short run-time in comparison with the full CFD duration.
