Abstract

Abstract—Sensors utilizing acoustic pressure waves are suitable for the determination of physical liquid parameters (e.g. mass density, speed of sound and viscosity). In our contribution we introduce a sensor setup based on three PZT transducers immersed in a sample fluid utilizing transient pressure waves to determine the longitudinal viscosity of the fluid. We discuss the basic sensor setup, an according 1D-model and present a prototype device and experimental data obtained with this setup.
