Abstract

Implementation aspects of a direct up-conversion modulator for reconfigurable multi-band/multi-standard basestations developed in a 0.35 µm 75GHz fT SiGe BiCMOS process are presented. The modulator consists of two double-balanced mixers and a fully integrated reconfigurable prescaler which includes the quadrature signal generation and provides three different divider-ratios for the adjustment of the LO frequency. Measurements of a first testchip show promising results within the desired extremely broadband modulator output frequency range of 400 MHz up to 2.7 GHz.
