Abstract
57Fe Mossbauer investigations are reported for BaFe2X3 compds. with X = S, Se in the temp. interval 4 < T < 293 K. According to the temp. dependence of the quadrupole splitting and the value of center shift, both samples can be characterized as mixed valence compds. Whereas at 4.2 K for the sulfur compd. only one hyperfine split spectrum is present, a field distribution with approx. a factor of two larger mean hyperfine field is obsd. for the Se sample.
