Abstract

The engineering of many materials processing machines needs adaptation to the customers’ specific requirements. 3D CAD parametric design is a powerful tool for making this engineering process more economic. Most effort is taken by setting up the parameter models to identify the lead parameters and dependent parameters and the rules deriving the latter from the first. Parametric design not always is the best choice and may be combined with individual or ranges design. Significant cost saving and quality improvement of the engineering of materials processing machines has been achieved.
