Abstract
The main topics of this paper are climate strategies and the sustainable using of biogas. The possibilities and opinions of different organisations to find their way are discussed.
The innovative minimum price system for green electricity results in the ability to extensively build larger power plants. In Austria, this price system has applied to eco-energy since January 1st, 2003. Today it is of economical interest to run a biogas plant with a capacity from 250 to more than 1,000 kWel. for economic reason. By generating electricity enormous amounts of waste heat are produced which can rarely be put to any use in the country.
This diploma thesis also presents some alternative concepts, including the economical production of biogas as well as an optimal utilization of the produced gas. One essential question in which form the raw biogas can be transported in a natural gas system. The gas can indeed be generated into electricity in an efficient way and therefore large gas-power plants are desirable. When they are installed in regions where heat is necessary or beneficial, the operation of the plant becomes even more efficient.
Furthermore an essential part of this thesis will show different co-operative solutions and how the outcome affects the interests of all involved parties.
Last but certainly not least, it will be shown that the power plant user must buy only biogas. This may be possible when there are appropriately agreements. Then the power generation process can work with less emissions of natural gas. This allows companies to purchase less pollution licences, and they get the higher green electricity scale.
