Workplace Chaplaincy

Since many years, the Institute of Management Control & Consulting conducts interdisciplinary research. In recent years the intersection between management and religion has developed into the separate research area “Management and Religion”. Workplace chaplaincy has gained increasing attention within the international research area of workplace spirituality. This kind of chaplaincy is regarded as a specific manifestation of workplace spirituality and is defined as pastoral care provided by ordained ministers or qualified laypersons salaried by ecclesial institutions, professional associations, or companies themselves, in order to serve the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the people at their workplaces.Our study includes face-to-face interviews with workplace chaplains and questionnaires which we sent to further chaplains, theologians, business management scholars, and managers to obtain a more holistic view of workplace chaplaincy and to prompt discussion with a broader circle of scientists and practitioners.
