Description

The plasticizing process in general and the single screw plasticizing process in special is the most important polymer processing technique. Calculating the solid conveying capacity, the melting capacity and the pressure throughput behaviour is a subject of internatinonal research and the focus of this project. Due to the sensitivity of concerning temperature, shear and residence time, it is especially for bio based materials, e.g. PLA (polylactic acid), PLA-Blends as well as NFC (natuarl fibre reinforced compounds) necessary to calculate and predict relevant physical properties from solids conveying to plasticizing and melt conveying. Therefore the project aims at the development of new physical approches for low energy plasticizing units for processing at high output rates with low polymer degradation.
