"The Ecosystem of AI Competency Education for Sustainability: A Case of Smart Agriculture" P239_Ethiopia_Tanzania

This project aims to transform African universities into hubs of AI-driven innovation and community engagement by equipping students with practical AI competencies for sustainability. Through project-based learning, students will collect and analyse local climate and agricultural data, develop context-specific AI solutions to address sustainability challenges, and collaborate with local communities to transfer knowledge and support the adoption of these solutions. Implemented through a partnership between Johannes Kepler University (Austria), Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia), and Ruaha Catholic University (Tanzania), the project will produce a shared AI Competencies for Sustainability module and an implementation framework to strengthen AI-enhanced education across institutions. By fostering AI-skilled graduates and AI-empowered communities, the project contributes to achieving SDGs 4, 8, 9, 11, and 17.
