Project Details

Description

The STEAM-kitchen project supports the creation and application of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) and digital pedagogies in the teacher education of the partner universities (Tallinn University, Estonia; University of Helsinki, Finland; University of Stavanger, Norway; Johannes Kepler University, Austria). It enhances the digital capacity of teacher students and provides professional development opportunities for subject teachers, through in-service training. STEAMkitchen is a capacity building project that aims to develop innovative solutions in the context of home economics teacher education and STEAM. The ‘Kitchen’ is seen as a wide representation of the everyday practices in students’ lives relating to STEAM. Not just a place for cooking, but living ones lives sustainably regarding matter such as using energy and water, using ingredients, using technology, being a consumer, taking care of clothes and household, using and recycling materials. As in homes, the overlapping content areas of home economics, science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics meet in this ‘Kitchen’.
