Simulation and Investigation of the HSDPA System

Project: OtherPhD thesis project

Project Details

Description

High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is an extension in UMTS mobile communication standard allowing for theoretical throughput of 14.4Mbps. To achieve this high throughput the implementation of advanced receivers, e.g. Linear Minimum Mean Square Error (LMMSE) equalizer, is inevitable. In this project a simulation environment including an HSDPA compliant transmitter, UMTS standard conform channel models, and various receivers is developed in MATLAB language. With this simulation chain the performance of the receivers and channel estimators can be studied and investigated. Further the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) HSDPA extension, which means more than one antenna at the transmitter and at the receiver are used for transmission, will be studied.
