Schaummodellierung in CFD

Description

The formation of foams plays a role in biological processes and should be avoided, and a simplified Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is to be developed as part of the project, which can generally take a foam layer into account in the CFD. A three-fluid or four-fluid model was agreed upon, which includes the liquid, the gas phase (rising gas bubbles), the foam phase and the air above the foam. Foam formation is to be modelled by a "mass transfer" from gas to foam phase and foam reduction by a "mass transfer" from foam to gas phase. Different transition rates are to be tested. The aim of the work is to develop a modelling framework to describe a foam layer/foam formation for computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
