Molecular biological study of patients with a high probability of developing post-stroke epilepsy

We propose a prospectively designed, exploratory study to identify changes in the course of epileptogenesis in post-stroke epilepsy. The planned investigations are to be carried out using molecular biology on samples [serum/plasma, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs)] and imaging using CT and MRI from patients who are treated at the clinics of the participating neurological departments. These are largely collected as part of routine examinations. The aim is to better understand the epileptogenesis of post-stroke epilepsy, which could enable early intervention and possible prevention
