K-Licht: Standardized Measures and advanced cooling devices for LED modules

Project: Funded researchFFG - Austrian Research Promotion Agency

Project Details

Description

The main objective of this project is research regarding advanced active and passive cooling devices for solid state lighting applications and the development of a standardized measurement apparatus to characterize LED systems regarding their electrical and light properties in dependence of temperature and operation position. At the very beginning a thorough screening of the state of the art with regard to methods, materials and the efficiency for typical LED systems and advanced active/passive cooling applications will be done. Those combinations of LED system and cooling principle, which are most promising candidates to meet the widespread requirements for industrial applications like long term stability, cost-effective and compatible production technology, high efficiency, and versatility with respect to the end applications, will be pursued in the course of the project.
