Investigation of the miRNome in the blood of Post-Stroke-Epilepsy, Epilepsy and stroke patients via RNA-Seq

We propose a prospectively designed, exploratory study to identify changes in blood miRNAs between post-ischemic stroke patients, epilepsy patients and post-stroke epilepsy patients. The planned investigations are to be carried out using molecular biology using blood samples from 45 patients who are being treated at the participating neurological clinic. For this purpose, selected patients are asked to have a blood sample taken at the neurological department. The aim is a preliminary understanding of the pathological processes that lead to post-stroke epilepsy. In further studies we want to identify potential biomarkers that enable early diagnosis and potential inhibition of post-stroke epilepsy.
