Investigation of methanation in bubble columns

Project: Funded researchFFG - Austrian Research Promotion Agency

Project Details

Description

Biological conversion of CO2 to H2 to methane. Compared to conventional chemical catalytic processes, an expensive and sensitive precious metal catalyst is not required. Currently, tests are being carried out in a stirred tank (laboratory scale). Upscaling to a continuous, technical process in a stirred tank under pressure is a challenge in terms of equipment and costs. For this reason, alternative types of apparatus, such as the bubble column, are to be investigated.
