Description
An analysis of the informal sector as a survival strategy in African cities. Field research, case studies, and a quantitative survey conducted in Dakar describe life in urban poverty and the importance of ethnic structures for the economy of the informal sector. Fundamental questions of a possible development political intervention are discussed as well.
