    Project Details

    Description

Goal: Measurement, evaluation and documentation of energy efficiency and cost efficiency of the drying of the fermented substratum of operating biogas plants in Upper Austria (one reference plant of 250kW with an annual production rate of 880 tons dried substratum and one of 500kW with an annual production rate of 1,280 tons dried substratum), as well as the generation of a product related carbon dioxide balance. Content: Biogas is the outcome of anaerobic fermentation of organic material. It is used in block heat and power plants to generate current and heat. Electricity is supplied with current, whereas - in this project - heat is used to dry the fermented substratum. The dried substratum is sold as organic fertilizer.
