Project Details
Description
IrdA is a communications interface based on the usage of infrared light. Four modes are used which provide different data rates: SIR, MIR, FIR and VFIR. The SIR mode was implemented numerous times before. Not so the fast data rates, especially the FIR mode. The VFIR mode is even faster and there are no implementations available right now.The project Fast Irda deals with an example implementation of the IrDA interface. It emphasizes on the high data rate modes FIR and VFIR. Another focus of the project lies in the validation of the implementation using advanced and new methods. Amogst these are rapid prototyping with FPGAs as well as virtual prototyping and hardware modeling with the aid of the ECCOS simulation and test system.
