Project Details
Description
The interdisciplinary project (aid program of ECHO)consists of the building of a village with 170 houses, the establishment of a water pipeline system, the rehabilitation of the road system, the improvement of the agricultural cultivation methods, the reforestation (800 000 trees)the building of a primary school, a community centre in form of a traditional "king hut" with 300 seats a a health clinic. The costs are around 29 million Austrian Shillings. The participants are the so-calles "new" repatriates, Tutsis, but also Hutus, who had to leave the country during the genocide in 1994.A large advantage of this project is its interdisciplinarity. The life in the whole region and the co-operation between the different ethnic groups can be stimulated positively by the integrated type of the implementation. The investigation did not result in any overreaching of a certain ethnic group.
