    Project Details

    Description

The principal objective of this project is to depict the regional raw material consumption for Upper Austria for the years 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2011. The identification of the regional material consumption for Upper Austria resp. of the ‘regional DMC’ and the related consideration of material imports and exports to and from Upper Austria is a novelty because it is the first time that the DMC is calculated for a federal state. It is, therefore, the application of a known concept within new system boundaries. Further, this indicator is linked to the gross regional product (GRP) to illustrate the resource efficiency of Upper Austria. In addition, on the basis of a special analysis of diverse statistics of Statistic Austria, a calculation of industry-specific productivity indicators is conducted The evaluations are carried out for individual business sectors and include the display of results in euros gross value added per tons of goods and euros gross value added per euros input material. In addition, through the industry-specific analysis it is possible to provide benchmarks for interested companies. Finally, the "regional raw material consumption" (regional RMC) is estimated and certain need for action in politics and industry are recommended.
