CHASE 2.3 MFP "Fundamental investigations on foaming process of Polypropylene (PP) and Polypropylene compounds"

Project: Funded researchFFG - Austrian Research Promotion Agency

Project Details

Description

In polymer processing and especially in polymer injection moulding the material – process – structure – properties relationship is of great interest. More specifically this means, if the desired properties of a foamed part are known, how does the optimum foam structure looks like to reach this goal, which process parameters must be applied and which material is necessary. Although it will not be possible to develop high level prescriptive models to cover the above-mentioned topic within this project, the scientific and company partners perform research to set up a common basis for further investigation in this area. While the topic "Simulation" covers the structure-properties relationship of foamed parts, the topic "Fundamentals" aims to improve the basic understanding of the foaming process.
