Project Details
Description
Development of an Asynchronous Serial Interface (ASI) Module for high-speed data transmission between
any external device like modulators, multiplexers or encoders and the existing PCI Base Board (Cobra). The
using Asynchronous Serial Interface (ASI) is based on the architecture of the Fibre Channel Interface. The
ASI Module enables an adjustable data transfer rate up to 270 Mb/s. An FPGA will be used for the data conversion from the ASI interface to the interface of the PCI Base Board (i960 bus). The design description of the FPGA is programmed in VHDL and converted by synthesis and placement & routing to an integrated circuit compliant netlist.
