AI-MOTION - Human Motion Sensor System for Daily Life and Analysis by Means of AI

Project: Funded researchFederal / regional / local authorities

Project Details

Description

Scientific motion analysis is usually done in laboratory environment, although studies showed that human movements differ in daily life. There already exists a great amount of motion analysis systems for daily life, such as activity trackers, smartwatches or even activity tracking with smartphones. With AI-MOTION the motion analysis in daily life will be brought a step forward by acquiring more advanced properties, such as EMG, 3D knee/hip angles and load distribution on the sole with an innovative measurement tool. These data will be processed with artificial intelligence for sophisticated applications, such as prediction of movements or as a tool for classifying diseases and disorders. With the developed system, clinical studies can be conducted in cooperation with the Kepler University Hospital. It will also provide the possibility to cooperate with industry to develop a novel motion analysis system. Together with industry partners, the findings can be applied for controlling bionic prosthesis or exoskeletons. AI-MOTION will be the basis for future proposals for continuing funding.
