Research interests
Patrick Fath was born in Voecklabruck, Austria, in 1992. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechatronics from Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU), Linz, Austria, in 2017 and 2020, respectively. In addition, he received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electronics and Information Technology from JKU in 2018 and 2021, respectively. His first master’s thesis addressed the design of a passive 180 nm receiver frontend for low-power short-range device (SRD) applications, and his second addressed the design of an RX topology for a 7-GHz UWB communication system. In April 2021, he joined the Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIC) at Johannes Kepler University Linz, where he worked toward the Dr. techn. degree, which he received in 2026. His doctoral research focused on the development of an ultra-high-density wireless biosignal acquisition system with 1024 channels. His current research interests include wireless biosignal acquisition systems and open-source chip design. He was the recipient of the Best Paper Award at the 2023 IEEE Nordic Circuits and Systems Conference.
