Institute of Polymer Processing and Digital Transformation

Organisation profile

Organisation profile

Our goal is to increase the utility and value of polymer articles by means of innovative polymer processing operations as well as building physics methods based on excellent education, research and development. Polymer Processing concerns operations carried out on polymeric materials or systems to increase their utility (Tadmor and Gogos). Polymeric Building Physics concerns processes and products by applying polymer technology for high performance buildings that are durable, comfortable, energy efficient, affordable and healthy. Major fields of research of this new institute will be: –(i) transport phenomena –(ii) rheology in polymer processing (iii)– processing technologies (iv)– machinery and optimisation in polymer extrusion and compounding (v)– film- and pipe-technologies (vi)– material orientation technologies and (vii)– the field of building physics concerning energy efficient, healthy and durable polymer supply systems.
