Workshop & Hackathon on Open-Source Design of Analog Mixed-Signal Chips

Activity: Talk or presentation › Invited talk › science-to-science

Description

Simon Dorrer led the entire Analog Mixed-Signal day at the HeiChips 2026 Summer School in Heidelberg. After a brief overview of the current open-source AMS toolchain and recent design successes, he guided participants through the entire workflow: schematic entry in Xschem with AC, DC, and transient testbenches in Ngspice, followed by layout in KLayout including DRC, LVS, parasitic extraction, and post-layout simulation, concluding with hands-on exercises (self-biased amplifier or three-stage ring oscillator with output buffer). All materials are available in the repository heichips26-analog-workshop. Additionally, he co-led the hackathon with Leo Moser and presented a poster providing an overview of open-source EDA tools and PDKs.
