WIN-2018-4th International Conference on Wave Interaction, Linz

  • Elena Tobisch (Organiser)

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventOrganising a conference, workshop, ...

    Description

The main objective of the WIN-series of conferences is to contribute to a better understanding of the roles of the nonlinear waves and wave interaction in various physical fields: geophysics, plasma physics and optics, Bose-Einstein condensate, etc. One of the main goals of our discussions is to analyze the interplay of linear and nonlinear processes yielding freak (or rogue) waves in the various physical contexts. Special attention will be paid to the role of modulation instability in the generation of the large-amplitude pulses and conditions for formation of freak waves. The WIN-series of conferences provides an international forum for the exchange of ideas and wide discussion on the theory of nonlinear waves and of its newest methodologies, knowledge, and expert opinions on this fields. Information about previous conferences can be found on the left. Scientific coordinators: Amiranashvili, Shalva (Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics, Berlin), Onorato, Miguel (University of Turin), Pelinovsky, Efim (Institute of Applied Physics, Nizhny Novgorod), Tobisch, Elena (Johannes Kepler University, Linz).
