Description

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic internet-provided digital technologies are increasingly used to meet others, which is especially relevant for societal areas that so far had been relying mostly on face-to-face interactions in physical co-presence. Against this background, the project analyses initiatives of 'digitalizing' co-presence in three areas of society: teamwork in office, hanging out among teenagers and the teaching of didactical methods. Assuming that the pandemic-driven usage of videophonic technology is neither a homogenous, nor a purely technological process, the project provides knowledge on the socio-technical conditions and practices of videoconferencing and its consequences for societal cohesion.
