In this lecture, distributed fiber optic sensors (DFOS) and their application in different areas as well as the simulation of these systems with MATLAB will be presented. DFOS applications include infrastructure monitoring such as bridges, tunnels and pipelines, environmental monitoring, geotechnical engineering, the oil and gas industry and renewable energy systems.
