Using Periodic Parametric Perturbation in a Mechatronic System to Improve System Detectability

  • Eric Maslen (Speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talkscience-to-science

Description

A common problem in the control of mechatronic systems is a lack of detectability: some portion of the dynamics is masked by the configuration of sensors or by fundamental properties of the system. This talk will present a series of detectability problems drawn from the author's experience in development of magnetic bearing technology and will show that al least one solution is to introduce intentional parametric periodicity to the system in order to make the masked dynamics detectable and thereby enable effective control.
