Towards Intelligent Engineering Pipelines for Real-Time Automation

Description

Real-time automation software has to deal with unique challenges, such as the tight integration with the environment, timely responses to events from the environment, and the need for combing heterogeneous subsystems. Hence, domain-specific languages have emerged in the domain of production systems engineering that support domain experts in creating real-time automation software. Drawing on experiences with developing software engineering tools for IEC 61499, which aim to increase the engineering efficiency and code quality, we will discuss opportunities for integrating AI assistants in control software engineering pipelines, which can help establish trust among automation engineers.
