In this contribution we discuss the potential of three fundamental frameworks widely used in the field of gender studies: equality, difference and deconstruction. The consideration of benefits and dangers of employing each of these frameworks occurs within the context of the research project TEquality. This project investigates exigencies and challenges for students of technology courses, and aims at developing measures to increase the proportion of female students in such careers. In this contribution we focus on a special experience of female students that is highly relevant for measures to be successful, namely the experience of representing a numerical minority. We conclude by discussing implications for measure development and implementation.
