Description

Openness has become a central aspect of today's strategizing. In an economy characterized by dynamic markets, societal changes, and digital technologies enhancing open business models, agile organizations, and collaboration with numerous partners, effective strategizing requires the inclusion of different viewpoints inside and outside the organization. To become effective strategists' students need to learn to work successfully with diverse stakeholders, open their minds to various perspectives, and encounter different points of view in their strategy work. To acquire such skills in strategy courses, we propose an interactive and reflective form of teaching that opens up to practice without neglecting the fundamentals and insights of the discipline. This paper discusses key elements of strategy courses, which prepare students to become effective strategists in an open world.
