Synthesis and Characterization of Meso-Alkynyl Corroles

Description

We present novel synthesis procedures to obtain a series of freebase and metal A2B- and meso-A3-ethynylcorroles. All reported π-conjugated (metal) corroles exhibit significant peak broadening and extensive red shifts of UV-vis absorptions. The novel corroles may find application in catalysis, dye-sensitized solar cells and photodynamic therapy upon suitable modification. We will discuss the scope of our procedures and study the effect of electron- accepting and -donating substituents on the photophysical- and (electro)-chemical properties.
