Description

Generating functions for partition of numbers often are modular forms. Modular forms satisfy a variety of functional equations. After providing a (very) general introduction to basic notions in this area, the talk discusses various computer algebra aspects and applications - all connected to the wor k of Ramanujan. This includes identities of Rogers-Ramanujan type as well as the celebrated partition congruences discovered by Ramanujan. Part of the algorithmic results presented are joint with Silviu Radu (RISC).
