Special Session on "Digitally Enhanced RF for Wireless Communications" at ISCAS 2010

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventOrganising a conference, workshop, ...

Description

Advances in CMOS fabrication technology enabled the use of CMOS technology in today RF transceivers for wireless communications. While CMOS on the one hand shows poor performance in RF circuits compared to other technologies, on the other hand it features the possibility for implementing a significant computational power directly on the transceiver IC. This offers many possibilities to compensate for impairments introduced in the analog circuits, thus enhancing the RF performance of CMOS-based transceivers. However, for any successful application of digitally enhanced RF circuits, an interdisciplinary approach including digital signal processing and circuit design is required. Purpose of this session is to create a forum for such interdisciplinary work, as both involved disciplines are usually well separated in traditional conferences.
