Solving functional equations with algebra

Description

Motivated by investigations of Babbage, we consider functional equations involving one unknown function and a finite set of known functions forming a group under composition. We show how algebra can be utilized for solving such functional equations. This is a joint work with Mihály Bessenyei and Csaba G. Kézi.
