Soft Magnetic Material Characterisation with a Single Sheet Tester – An Overview

Description

This state-of-the-art paper gives an introduction into the characterisation of soft magnetic material’s magnetic properties by means of single sheet tester (SST). A brief insight into the historical background of this measuring method is given, as well as, the underlying physical principle is explained. Especially, an overview based on most relevant literature on one of the crucial aspects with this method is given: the determination of the magnetic field s trength. Furthermore, the influence of the samples geometry and yoke design is h ighlighted. Finally, to achieve a high characterisation accuracy, recommendations on the SST’s design are given based on the gained insights.
