Description

A 3D-MIMO digital beamforming radar based on numerous multi-channel SiGe chips has been developed. The system operates at a frequency of 77 GHz, where monolithically integrated microwave circuits, i.e. multi-channel receiver and transmitter circuits are now commercially available. The RF-frontend is controlled by means of an embedded computer and connected to a host computer. This 3D-MIMO radar monitors the surface inside a blast furnace, which is a very harsh environment.
