Semi-numeric Model of Capacitive Touch Sensors Integrated into Coatings of Metallic Substrates

Activity: Talk or presentationPoster presentationscience-to-science

Description

An efficient semi-numeric boundary element method for the calculation of the response of interdigitated touch sensors is introduced and used to demonstrate interesting properties of embedded printed capacitive touch sensors on steel substrates. The strength of the method is that layer compositions with finite conductivity and arbitrary sequence of layer permittivities can be calculated efficiently for all aspect ratios. The method is used to further investigate previous findings, where we have shown, that measuring the coupling capacitance between the interdigitated fingers at low frequencies is the most sensitive approach.
