Scientific Advisory Board of the Cluster of Excellence "Merge Technologies for Multifunctional Lightweight Structures" (External organisation)

Activity: Membership/FunctionBoard, Committee or Jury

Description

MERGE is a German Federal Cluster of Excellence in the field of lightweight structures, established at the TU Chemnitz, and funded by the DFG with 31 million Euros in the period 1st November 2012 to 31st October 2017. Lightweight construction is a key technology of the future. Wherever masses have to be moved, the optimization of weight is a main focus in order to save raw materials and energy. Thus, it is the aim of the Cluster's research to merge basic technologies suitable for mass-production, comprising plastic, metal, textile and Smart Systems for the development of resource-efficient products and production processes. More than 100 researchers and technicians from a total of six interacting research domains are currently working on the implementation of this project.
