Description

This paper deals with a unifying energy-based description of hydrostatic drives and dc-dc converters of the Cuk-type. In both applications the plant input only influences the internal energy flow and does not change the total amount of energy stored in the system. It turns out that this description does not only reveal the underlying physical structure, it also helps to perfom a controller design. In this way a positive definite solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi-Belman inequality for solving the nonlinear H2-controller design for this type of systems can be found. The presented approach fits consequently the idea of mechatronics because it allows a common treatment of different engineering disciplines, as in our case hydraulic engineering and power electronics.
