Description

Dr. Nicolas Barnafi, Post-doc at University of Pavia, gave a talk at JKU during his research stay at our Institute m3dm. Abstract: The computational modeling of the human heart is performed through a complex multiscale and multiphysics system, whose numerical approximation in large supercomputers poses a daunting challenge. In this talk, we will review some recent results in the development of robust solution strategies for this problem, which leverage parallel algorithms to yield an efficient solution strategy. In particular, we will focus independently on the solution of the nonlinear elasticity and cardiac electrophysiology (bidomain) equations, with a top-down approach which starts from the nonlinear solver and ends with the preconditioner.
