Resource efficiency in Upper Austria – Minimizing resource consumption, cutting production costs

Description

Based on a description of the problem situation (increasing resource consumption and importance of resource efficiency) the results of the research study ‘Depicting the resource efficiency in Upper Austria’ (finished in autumn 2014) are presented. The contents are: goals and scope of the study, core results comprising the regional domestic material consumption for Upper Austria, an analysis of imports and exports, the resource efficiency and sector-specific resource productivity indicators. The application of specific information and decision support tools is recommended. Moreover, a model for enhancing resource efficiency in companies is presented (‘Triple A’ 3 steps model) as well as the material flow cost accounting for identifying resource efficiency potentials.
