Description

Direct optical excitation of charge transfer systems to photo-generate pyridinium radical intermediates using visible or near infrared light are presented. These compounds are considered as key-intermediates in the catalysis of carbon dioxide reduction to form methanol and other energy rich compounds based on CO2-assimilation.
