Recycling lithium-ion batteries: from equilibrium to extraction column

Activity: Talk or presentationContributed talkscience-to-science

Description

Lithium-ion batteries are the basis of electromobility , the increasing demand for batteries presents us with drastic challenges. On the one hand, the current production capacity of cobalt, nickel and lithium is not sufficient to meet the growing demand. For another, spent lithium-ion batteries pose a serious hazard. Both aspects lead to push the recycling of these batteries. In this paper, a successful study on the recycling of the so-called "black material", which consists of active materials of the batteries (Co, Li, Ni, Mn), is presented.
