Queering Bodies? Post Porn in Europe.

Visual representations produce, mount and recite ideas of bodies. Particularly performance art is generally known to be experimental and often transgressive concerning society, politics and formalistic forms of art. Since its beginning in the 1960s, corporeality has taken a crucial place. The body occupies an explicit role within performance art, especially when it comes to feminist performances. Post-pornographic representations show non-binary ideas of gender, and non-hegemonic subjects indicating non-normative positions, destabilizing structures and social orders. However, post-porn in Europe is mostly produced by and represents mainly white and abled bodies – and in such way reproduces an idea of the imperial “Europe”. In such way it further creates new kinds of homo- and heteronormativity that open new hierarchization of non-Western bodies and help to create an idea of "the Others", so that (post) imperial dynamics become visible.
