Quantum Computation: Prospects and Challenges

  • Robert Wille (Speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talkscience-to-science

Description

Quantum computation is a promising new technology which works fundamentally different than conventional circuits and systems. Because of this, it provides intriguing prospects, such as the capability to solve certain problems exponentially faster than the best known alternative solutions, but also severe challenges, such as complex descriptions, hard physical constraints, and/or uncertainty to be considered. This talk provides an overview of quantum computation and reviews its basic foundations. Afterwards, it is discussed how, starting with an efficient representation of a quantum functionality to be realized, important design tasks such as the synthesis, verification, and simulation can be conducted for this new technology.
