q-Series and Computer Algebra 3: The Rogers-Ramanujan Functions

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talkscience-to-science

Description

The overall plan for the four lectures is to introduce to basic algorithmic ideas to assist research in q-series and, in particular, to the usage of corresponding software packages developed at RISC. In the foreground of the presentation we put concrete examples rather than abstract theory. Part 3 deals with Rogers-Ramanujan functions (the key players in the celebrated Rogers-Ramanujan identities) as central objects. Computer algebra will be used to set up connections to related themes like continued fractions and to Felix Klein's famous icosahedral equation.
